Liverpool reportedly had a part to play in one of the most dramatic stories of transfer deadline day as ar rival Premier League club have been left fuming.
There wasn’t exactly a flurry of activity at Anfield on Tuesday, with the only signing being that of Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, who’ll remain with Genk on loan this season. There were a handful of late loan exits (including Harvey Elliott to Valencia), while Stefan Bajcetic joined Celta Vigo on a permanent deal.
The Reds didn’t make any midfield additions on deadline day, but there’s one such player they seemingly have in mind for a future transfer.
Liverpool involved in Lamine Camara deadline day drama
One of the big soap operas yesterday involved Lamine Camara, for whom Chelsea had an initial £38.5m bid rejected before later agreeing a £47m deal for the Monaco midfielder, who was given permission to complete a medical.
However, after then agreeing to sell Folarin Balogun to Everton (a move which later collapsed), the Ligue 1 club backed out of the deal to sell the Senegal international, which left Stamford Bridge chiefs raging (Sky Sports).
Reports from talkSPORT have claimed that Liverpool made a phone call to Monaco on Tuesday to ask them to delay the sale of Camara, before Les Monegasques later pulled the plug.
The Reds hadn’t intended to sign the 22-year-old on deadline day but did signal their intention to the player and his club that they could come back in for him next year if he didn’t join Chelsea.

Liverpool could’ve done with signing Camara straight away
The cold truth is that Liverpool could’ve done with signing Camara straight away, given their much-discussed defensive midfield issues and a reduction in bodies in the middle of the park since the start of the summer.
Instead, the onus is left on Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to provide that blanket of security in the middle third, an aspect in which none of them specialise as all three are more forward-minded.
With the transfer window now shut, Andoni Iraola is tasked with coaching a more safety-first mindset into that trio if the Reds are to stop giving away goals by being played through their midfield with ridiculous ease.
By the time Liverpool are next able to sign Camara in January, that weakness in the side mightn’t have been solved – if anything, it could be exacerbated, with our season suffering as a result.
The collapse of his move to Chelsea at least leaves the door open for the Merseysiders to come back in for him in 2027. We just hope that doesn’t come too late for the sake of the Reds’ campaign.
Iraola has inherited the mess that got slot sacked. What was the point in changing the head coach if you have the same that failed last season.

Why spend 30 million on a young goalkeeper when that 30 million could have been spent on a full back.

Jones hasn’t been replaced, the midfield is weaker than it was last season.
We have Barcola, Gakpo, Rio ngumoha, Munoz who are all natural left wingers. Wirtz can also play there.
What about the right wing? Rio ngumoha already looks lost playing there.
We chased mbaye, sarr, and minteh but wouldn’t pay the transfer fee, mabaye joined villa for just 47 million.
If Isak gets injured who plays up front.
When the fixtures start pile up that’s when the failures of this transfer window will, kick in for Iraola.
It’s arguably one of the weakest squads Liverpool have ever had in the premier league.
Can we even get champions league next season.

FSG have thrown Iraola under the bus.
Liverpool’s failure to fill the voids left by departing players this season and the previous one is evidence of the management’s mismanagement. We have often seen the club let go of players they needed and fail to fill the gaps they left. Clubs’ failure to deliver a level of performance that satisfies their fans has reasons, and this is one of the reasons for Liverpool’s decline.
LFC have failed to replace Matip.
LFC have failed to replace Fabinho.
LFC have failed to replace Wijnaldum.
LFC have failed to replace Mane.
LFC have failed to replace Milner.
LFC have failed to replace Robertson.
LFC have failed to replace Firmino.
LFC have failed to replace Salah.
Since Klopp left, Edwards and Hughes have rightly effed things up and left LFC in a worst state. FSG are also not helping.
We all celebrated when Michael Edwards came back to Liverpool – what we didn’t know is that he came for only one mission, to dismantle Klopp’s Legacy. For Klopp had left behind a very well balanced team that easily won the league with another manager. Then came the departures- remember it has taken Arsenal 22 yrs to win the cup after selling off a title winning team( at least Wenger used the money to build Emirates Stadium) . Michael Edwards has now taken off ( as well as his stooges). Klopp knows what they did ( non disclosure agreements, you bet, Salah said it: mission accomplished, Liverpool is actually a wreck, not the oiled machine that Klopp left behind – don’t let me get started on Carragher , he actively drove a wedge btn Salah and the Club in December last year instead of rallying the fan base at a time we were very low. My question is- should a person like Michael Edwards just happily live happily in Cheshire with no questions asked? He was coveted even by Man Utd, should this be the case after what he has done- should he even be allowed near a football club again?
