It seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will pull off a deadline day transfer for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr.
Fabrizio Romano had claimed in recent days that the Senegal forward was the Reds’ ‘favourite candidate‘ for an additional wide attacking signing to Bradley Barcola, with the Merseyside club having had an opening offer of £50m rejected by the Eagles.
French outlet RMC Sport claimed (via The Express) that the 28-year-old had even refused to train with his current employers as he seemingly attempts to force through a move to Anfield.
Despite that rumoured strike action from Sarr, it now seems unlikely that he’ll become a Liverpool player by 11pm tonight.
Palace would reject any deadline day offers for Sarr
According to Graeme Bailey for TEAMtalk, Palace would instantly reject any further offers from the Reds on deadline day in favour of holding onto the Senegalese winger.
It’s added that the Merseysiders are more unlikely than likely to test the waters with another bid for the 28-year-old, having decided not to sell Cody Gakpo despite a late attempt from Manchester City to sign him.

Liverpool should be well covered even if they don’t sign Sarr
Similar to Yankuba Minteh, Liverpool may have privately deduced that they don’t need to go all-out to add another winger now that the Dutchman is staying.
Palace have reportedly set a £75m price tag on Sarr (The Express), and it’d make no sense for the Reds to offload Gakpo in order to pay that much for the Eagles’ number 7.
Anfield chiefs might also be wary of attempting another deadline day raid on Selhurst Park after the dramatic collapse of Marc Guehi’s proposed transfer to Merseyside a year ago today.
Andoni Iraola now has five senior wingers at his disposal after the addition of Barcola, which should provide ample depth for two positions in the starting XI and enable the head coach to rotate between that quintet as the season progresses.
Sarr might be trying to force Palace’s hand, but it looks as though his wish of a move to Liverpool will go unfulfilled.
Meanwhile Aston villa just signed Mbaye for 47 million.
Make of that what you will.
Why we wouldn’t pay just 47 million is beyond me.
But were willing to pay over 50 million for 28 year old sarr.

I love how no-one is discussing the fact that, before signing Barcola, we were already at our squad limit for non-homegrown players. Unless Gakpo, Endo or Chiesa are sold today, I assume they won’t put Ekitike in the Premier League squad list until January (by which time we’ll need to have offloaded someone)
It seems to me that if had we offered the right money for Adam Wharton early in the window , then two major problems would have been solved easily.Then look how much better our defensive midfield would have been!
