Fabrizio Romano has advised Liverpool fans to ‘stay tuned’ for the possibility of a ‘surprising’ transfer to Anfield in the final three days of the summer transfer window.
The Reds are reportedly on the verge of completing the marquee addition of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal which could reach £123m, but it seems increasingly likely that Cody Gakpo may be on his way out of Merseyside amid a prospective bid from Manchester City.
Even if those two transfers materialise, it appears that Richard Hughes could seek to bring in one more winger before the Tuesday night deadline.
Romano teases potential transfer ‘surprise’ for Liverpool
Romano posted an update on his eponymous YouTube channel on Sunday morning in which he indicated that Liverpool haven’t given up on a potential last-minute swoop for Ismaila Sarr and could yet pivot to a different option in the next 48 hours.
He explained: “For Liverpool fans, we have to understand who’s going to be the replacement. It could be at any moment so stay tuned. It could be in the next hours.
“For sure, Liverpool maintain active contacts with the agents of Ismaila Sarr. They already had a bid rejected by Crystal Palace. They remain in conversations with all parties involved. Let’s see if it’s going to be Ismaila Sarr or a new surprising option in the final hours of the summer transfer window.”

Liverpool are at risk of committing a calamitous transfer mistake
Ideally, the Reds would get Barcola over the line, keep hold of Gakpo and divert their full attention to signing a defensive midfielder between now and Tuesday.
Unfortunately, with the Dutchman seeming increasingly likely to leave, Hughes will have to somehow bring in a winger and a number 6 in the next 60 hours, or risk leaving Andoni Iraola short in either or both of those positions (the latter scenario would be sickening).
As the Marc Guehi soap opera showed 12 months ago, persuading Palace to offload Sarr this close to the deadline could be extremely difficult, and surely the preferable option is to try and convince Gakpo to stay put and build upon his strong start to the season for Liverpool.
If our number 18 does go to Man City, only the recruitment of a top-class replacement would atone for what has the makings of an all-timer calamity from the Anfield hierarchy. Even then, the failure to address the defensive midfield issue would render this transfer window a disappointment.
Let’s hope and pray that Hughes has an unexpected trick up his sleeve before 11pm on Tuesday, because at present, it looks as though there could be a lot of disgruntlement among the fan base by the time that deadline passes.

Liverpool were valued at £300m when FSG saved them from liquidation they are now valued at £5.5 BILLION which is through the shrewd business activities of FSG.

Where would Liverpool be if FSG hadn’t purchased the club ?

Klopp was the mastermind on the pitch with a shoestring budget. FSG should have given an ownership stake to Klopp for his contribution to success.

Yes, Barcola and Munoz are really good signings, BUT No No6 (Chelsea have agreed deals for BOTH Kone and Camara who were linked with with LFC) No Right Back, no additional Centre Back Hughes is going to Saudi, I would kick his arse out now. He has basically wasted over 300m (a few of the players he has signed are good). The team is unbalanced and the squad is very thin. If we get 6th this season will be good.
