According to reports from France, Liverpool are in the mix to sign a Ligue 1 midfielder who’s been the subject of a transfer offer from a fellow Premier League club.
The Reds are set to bolster their defensive options with an impending loan move for Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo, and sporting director Richard Hughes could potentially supply Andoni Iraola with reinforcements in the middle of the park in the final weeks of the summer.
Liverpool ‘remain in the hunt’ for Lamine Camara
French outlet Foot Mercato have reported that the Merseyside giants ‘remain in the hunt’ to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco, who come up against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
However, LFC may have some catching up to do on a couple of other Premier League clubs in the race for the 22-year-old. Crystal Palace have already ‘submitted a concrete offer’ for the Senegal midfielder, and Nottingham Forest are also ‘poised’ to go in with a formal bid of their own.
The Ligue 1 side value the player at €50m (£42.8m), the same price at which they recently sold Maghnes Akliouche to Paris Saint-Germain, and Camara’s representatives are ‘meticulously examining all the options on the table’ with the intention of choosing the ‘best sporting project’.

Camara would add much-needed steel to Liverpool’s midfield
The Monaco enforcer has been tracked by Anfield chiefs for some time – will they finally make a move for him in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window?
As seen below in his performance metrics from last season (via Fotmob), the 22-year-old excels in breaking up opposition attacks while also being a reliable creative presence for his team, a strong mix which marks him out as a well-rounded midfielder.

One of Liverpool’s biggest weaknesses in recent months was the ease in which opponents glided through the middle of the park with minimal resistance, and the Senegal powerhouse – who played in all four of his country’s matches at the World Cup – would seem like an ideal option to remedy that shortcoming at Anfield.
If FSG are serious about signing Camara, though, they may need to turbo-charge their efforts to bring him in if indeed Crystal Palace have already put through an offer for him.
Also, with Iraola having plenty of quality midfield options available to him, would the 22-year-old need to be patient for his opportunity to get into the Reds’ starting XI, or maybe accept a backup role behind the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister?
He’s an intriguing transfer target, for sure, although the clock is ticking for Liverpool if they’re fully intent on bringing him to Merseyside.

Who do you see as a replacement for Salah as tere aren’t that many wingers around, never mind right sided ones that clubs are willing to sell. Same goes for goalkeepers and centre backs of sufficient quality to step into the first team. Until his injuries, Bajetic looked an ideal replacement for Fabinho. We cannot keep buying foreign players because of the number of home grown players we need in the squad. Let’s see what happens in te next few weeks eh?
